Welcome to Tougefriends !This forum was created as a place for car enthusiast to share information regardless of chosen platform. We hope that this forum can bring like-minded people together and give them a platform for discussion. Please introduce yourselves here ! Name: If you'd like to list your name, please do. Location: Where are you from? State? Country? Vehicle(s): If you drive multiple platforms, please let us know. Pictures are a plus ! Summary: Brief introduction. Tell us a little about you and the type of driving you like. I'll go first: Name: --- Location: Japan Vehicle(s): '93 Nissan 240SX, '88 Nissan Silvia Q's, '96 180SX Type X Summary: You can probably tell I have a thing for S-Chassis cars. I've been driving them since '06 iirc. I'm not big on drifting myself although I thoroughly enjoy it. Believe it or not, I try to restore my cars as much as possible. I've been in Japan since 2016 and I'm working on getting out to some events in my area of Japan. I've been up the Mazda Turnpike once (...in a Nissan Cube ) but I'm hoping to visit it more often in my 180SX. I used to have a '13 Scion FRS and I'd love to own one again one day.

Hey everyone! Name: Jeremy Location: Bay Area, California Vehicle(s): 2015 Subaru BRZ Limited Summary: I'm just getting back into the car scene after a 6 year break. I am a big S Chassis and Japanese car enthusiast, and i've owned a number of 240x hatchbacks, and had an AE86 corolla for a short while as well. I bought my first 240x in 2005, and left the scene in 2011. I've done a good amount of autocross back in the day (but am not really interested in doing it again), and a decent amount of drifting as well. What I really love most is touge, so being in the Bay Area I am really kind of spoiled with good mountain roads. Additionally, I'd like to get into some HPDE events and maybe some time attack down the line. I bought my BRZ in February of 2017 and have been modifying it for a nice grip setup. I never really intended to drift this new car, but some friends and I rented out the Thunderhill skidpad on the 4th of July and it was nice to slide a car again. That's it for now! I'll be posting up a build thread for my BRZ with more details.

Name: Darnell Location: Montreal, Canada (Probably going to be one of the few Canadians on here) Vehicle(s): 1997 Infiniti Q45, 1989 FC3S. Summary: Got into cars when I was about 13-14 and was specifically into Japanese cars more than anything else. My first car was an 87 FC3S and ever since then I've been hooked. Currently attending school for accounting but plan on returning to Florida after all this is done. I play pc games (feel free to add me if you have steam) and like working on cars when I have time. I will be posting a build thread of either of my cars when I actually have something to share but in the meantime I cant wait to read and see what others are working on!

Name: Omar G.C. Location: Spokane, WA Vehicle(s): '75 280z, '13 FR-S, '93 FD3S, '07 Tundra (daily)
Summary: I'm Omar, my passion is any sort of circuit racing... Whether it's karts, w2w, or time trial events. I began my own personal vehicle builds in 05, with an 02 wrx. Car was a big part of my life until 2009 when I relocated to Japan(sold in 2010).
There I essentially had every car I ever dreamed of... from jzx chassis, bnr's, older skylines, s chassis, had one "cool" gc8, etc. Spent 4-5 days a week either at a track event, or in the hills racing with prodominately local Japanese friends until sunrise.
From 06 to 2013 I had at least one Subaru in my stable that was very modified/raced whether it was autox, hpde, nasa events, or random events in Japan... I grew to hate EJ platform throughout those years, and to this day I'll rather deal with a rotary than an EJ lol.
So work has relocated me quite a few times, and life happened... I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and a wife. So things have slowed A LOT. I have done two hpde or hpde "like" events in the past 3 yrs, now the free time I do have is focused on building things that when I do drive... it fills in the missed opportunities quite a bit. Also, relocation has changed the overall purpose of the one "toy" that relocates with me the most. So on to the current cars.
'75 280z: Car I purchased while I was visiting the states from Japan for $1700. Car was MINT with a running l28. Car now has an rb26 from one of my old r32's, rb25 5 speed, r200, nismo twins, and is ran off of an ancient Power FC. Car sits in central Florida, stored and safe. I haven't personally seen the car since early 2013/late 2012.
'13 FRS: Bought new in 2012(believe July). I intended to buy this car since there was no info about it, and it was just a concept on one of the old GT games... I legitimately only bought this car due to the rear quarter window design. (2000gt/s30z like)... I was absolutely horrified when they announced it'd be powered by a Subaru engine. So I fixed that. Car now is 2JZ swapped with a 68mm turbo, cd00a gearbox, and Ford 8.8 rear diff from an 04 Cobra. Goal is to hit a high 8 second pass with the manual trans. This is the car that goes where I go, and due people in Spokane I've pretty much turned it into a straight line only street car.
'93 FD: I cannot even call it a car, it's a stripped shell that I purchased for next to nothing with a Samberg LS swap kit. It's a long term project and a vehicle that I hope to use to check off the bucket list. (Complete a full run at PPIHC). Plans for it are a destroked ls3 (4.8 crank, custom aluminum rods, and some fairly light pistons), dogbox, fc3s rear, have Penske coils, full re widebody + voltex aero, motec, and safety equipment. This is something I picked up since moving to Washington State late 2015 to make me feel ok about making the frs useless upon corner exit. * my wife isn't even aware of this yet lol.
07 Tundra: Hands down the best vehicle purchase I've ever made in my life. Bought in 2013-2014 for $8300 OTD. (Was listed at 15.5 and threw a CEL during the test drive). Fixed the issue the following day for free99 and it has not skipped a beat in the past 60,000 miles. Bought in IL, now live in Eastern WA... It's rwd, but does well still. May 6BT + 4WD swap in the future.
TLDR; I have a bunch of engine swapped cars and a truck.

Welcome, guys! Nice to see some activity here and even better to see that we all drive something different and have different interests.

I've been meaning to get out of my area for a long time. I've been in Japan over a year and my first two cars were a '97 180SX Type X and a '00 Silvia Spec S, the latter intended to be a 'cool daily' for my wife. The '97 180SX was a blind buy: I purchased it from Osaka without seeing it. Biggest mistake ever. The car was going to be more of a hassle than I wanted to admit, so I traded it in for the '88 Q's. I ended up finding the '96 Type X early this year and although I shouldn't have jumped on it, I did. Cleanest S13 I've ever owned second only to the one I have in military storage in CA. I finally made E5 and was able to register two cars so the '96 got the attention I wanted to give the '97. Sold the S15 as well and it ended up working out (barely) in the end. A lot of mistakes on my end...but my point is I've wasted a lot of time in this country when I could've been out driving. Once the '96 is sorted I'll be contributing a lot of photos/videos.

Sounds a lot like me. If you feel the urge to get back into an S-Chassis car I wouldn't say NOT to do it. I'd just suggest trying to own an S13 and a ZN6 at the same time lol. Now I have three S13s (including the one back home) and I find myself wishing I still had a ZN6. I guess I'd rather beat on a newer car than an older one.

Best summary so far. That's the only thing I'm missing here: the ability to own firearms.
brokendreamsjp -
I feel the same. I wanted an old American muscle car when I was about 13-14 but once I got turned on to Japanese cars I never really looked back. Being in this country is awesome because you can see ANYTHING out on the highway on any given day. Muscle cars, lowriders, Ferraris, etc. It's awesome.
Thanks for the introductions, guys. Be sure to tell your friends about the forum. I think we're off to a good (small) start. Quality over quantity is always best so if you have friends with a similar passion please bring them over!
-D.

Name: Call me Meech or Micho (Meecho not Micko) Location: CA, USA Vehicle(s): Currently carless due to a series of bad decisions. Vehicles I've Owned: 1988 CRX DX, 1991 Integra GS, 1993 MPV (soccer mom touge van), 1993 KA24 D21, 1984 944 2.5 NA I like cougars. Not one of my previous cars has been younger than me. Summary: I live breathe and dream of machines. Cars, bicycles, lathes, drill presses, dirtbikes, streetbikes, etc anything mechanical. Between 2010 and 2013 I had a good stint with sim racing on GT5. I entered the GT Academy and placed within the top 10k the first time, top 5k in 2012, and I was within the top 300 in 2013. Close, but, close isn't good enough. At least I got an E3 pass out of it in 2013 though. I might give sim racing another try in 2018 with Gran Turismo Sport.

Thanks to everybody who has joined and introduce themselves so far. I'm really hoping this place picks up some momentum. As mentioned above, quality > quantity, but I'd the end goal is to see a good number of people here interacting from all parts of the world, regardless of what they drive. I've always firmly believed that the car one drives is not nearly as important as the individual's character. You can drive the most beat down, rusted astro van, but if you're just a genuinely good person who shares the same interest, I'll invite you over to my place for a BBQ or drinks any time. That being said, if you have any friends, please pass the word along to them and encourage them to join and post. The only way this can grow is if people not only register, but interact. Otherwise, this forum, along with the corresponding ideas and goals for it will just die. Name: Call me Meech or Micho (Meecho not Micko) Location: CA, USA Vehicle(s): Currently carless due to a series of bad decisions. Anytime I raced with people online, I was immediately humbled. I thought I was fairly decent, but I would just get destroyed by some of the dudes online. There's a thread in the off-topic section that somebody started regarding race sims and stuff. I may also be bringing a friend onto the site as a vendor in the future with a store that can supply race sim equipment to people who are interested in building/upgrading their own setup.

Name: Matt Location: Toronto, Canada Vehicle(s): '97 Toyota Chaser, '12 Subaru STI Summary: I'm coming from more of a Nissan (S Chassis as well as Skylines) background, but recently decided to switch it up and try something new (to me). Jumped into the big body sedan world, and I haven't looked back.
I've been hooked ever since watching Option VHS back in grade school at my friends house. It was his older brothers copies, and I didn't understand ANYTHING at that time, but I just had to keep watching. Everything was so fresh, new, and interesting to me. Fast forward 15 years and a few trips to Japan later, and I'm still into various types of builds, models, and disciplines of driving.
